Beth haMedrosh Hagagdol – Beth Joseph (BMH-BJ) Congregation is the largest Modern Orthodox synagogue in Denver and the second oldest congregation in the area and just a few years younger than the city of Denver itself. BMH was founded in 1897 while BJ was founded in 1922 and together merged in 1996 making BMH-BJ the largest Orthodox Union (OU) affiliated synagogue between Chicago and California.
BMH-BJ is always bustling with activity and programming. We feature one of the top preschools in the city; an interactive and engaging Hebrew School, The Mesorah Learning Center; fun and educational Shabbat morning programming with Shabbat FUNdamentals; a warm and welcoming twice-daily minyan and two participatory and meaningful Shabbat minyanim; the renowned Sunburst program; enriching and relevant adult education opportunities and so much more. In addition, we are home to one of the best Judaica stores in the city and an active Women’s League, Young Professional Network, youth group, seniors group and our Bar and Bat Mitzvah training and program is known for its excellence throughout Denver.
To become part of the BMH-BJ family is to place yourself in a synagogue whose history stretches back more than 116 years and is alive with vibrancy, passion and inclusivity. We invite you to come and experience one of our myriad offerings or join us for Shabbat services!
