VBM: A Tradition of Revolution with Rabbi Ed FeinsteinDate: Thursday, March 11th “Tradition!” sang Tevye, “that’s how we keep our balance!” Tradition is our superpower. We know that the words we say, the rites we practice, the ethics we embrace have come down through the generations. But there is another source of our power, one not often recognized – our remarkable ability to re-invent, re-imagine, re-interpret our faith, our institutions, our identity in moments of crisis. This capacity for meeting catastrophe with spiritual creativity may be the real secret of our survival. At this moment of our history, we may need this capacity more than ever; we may need to call on our miraculous Jewish resilience. |
Family Fusion: PassoverDate: Tuesday, March 25th Freedom is best learned by stepping into the story together. We will gather for a fun, interactive mini Seder designed especially for families and young children. Through song, storytelling, movement, and hands on experiences, children will act out the story of leaving Mitzrayim and discover that Pesach is not only something we remember but something we live through each year. We will taste the symbols, ask questions, sing together, and feel what it means to move from narrow places into open space. Pesach becomes real when freedom is felt with the whole body and heart. |
Family Fusion: Lab BaomerDate: Tuesday, April 28th Lag BaOmer is about the light that brings people together. We will create glowing bonfire-inspired crafts and gather for singing and dancing that reflects the warmth and joy of this special day. Children will feel how light draws us into community and how joy grows when we stand in a circle together. This is a celebration of connection, song, and the inner fire that Torah brings into our lives. A day of light, movement, and holy fire. |
Family Fusion: ShavuoutDate: Tuesday, May 19th Receiving the Torah Together Shavuot is the moment we open ourselves to receive. We will create Torah scrolls, decorate them with our names and meaningful Hebrew words, and bring the story of Sinai to life through song and storytelling. Children will experience Torah as something alive, precious, and meant to be held close. Alongside this, we will enjoy dairy treats together, tasting the sweetness of Torah and celebrating the joy of learning as a family. Shavuot reminds us that Torah is received with joy, curiosity, and open hearts. |
